These varieties are cultivated for professional cultivation and restaurants. That's why they have 'Pro' after their names: because they yield a lot more harvest and germinate and grow better than regular lettuce.
The seeds have been partially germinated, but that makes them fragile. To protect them, they are coated with a layer of clay. That's why the packets are expensive, but each lettuce head will provide you with lots of salad for a long time.
You will receive 4 packets containing 12 clay pellets, and each pellet has 1 seed. So, be careful when sowing, as you have a limited quantity.

Please note: these seeds are guaranteed to remain viable for 9 months. However, if you store the seeds in a cool place, like the refrigerator, you can extend the expiration date to at least one year. Unfortunately, the packets often have incorrect expiration dates, such as January 2025 and 2026. It should be January 2024.
Loose-leaf lettuce includes all types of lettuce that do not form tight heads but have loose leaves. When harvesting, you pick the outer leaves and leave the core so that it can continue to grow.
The 4 types in this set are all Salanova variations. These types produce a large amount of tender and sturdy leaves that all have approximately the same size. Because the heads also bloom much later than other types, you can continue to harvest them for months.
Plus: slugs avoid these types - especially the red ones - much more than other lettuce, and the mixture looks nice on your plate.

The cultivation of this lettuce is easy: you insert a clay pill into a hole and keep the mix well moist. Because the heads become quite large, only 1 mature plant fits in one compartment.
In a cold spring, you can cover the plants at night with the MM vegetable garden cover to make them grow faster.
Watch out for slugs: they love the seedlings. Once the plants are a bit bigger, they leave these varieties alone more than regular lettuce. Super easy, right? 🙂

The name says it all: you use the leaves for your salads. With these four types, you can vary a lot. The leaves are also very tasty in smoothies, wraps or pasta dishes.
Start harvesting when the leaves are about 10 cm. Then the leaves are still very tender: delicious for salads. But even when the leaves are a bit bigger, they still taste great.
Only when the plants are older than about three months, the leaves become slightly tougher and slightly bitter. Use them then for a mashed potato dish or stir-fry. Or make a tasty soup 😀
